Kieran Jenkins is a composer, soundscape and drone artist based in Nottingham, who releases music under Head Becomes Void.
While performing and touring with various metal and hardcore bands as a guitarist, Kieran also began experimenting with electronic sound and music for film during his undergraduate degree, where he started scoring short films and documentaries.
In 2019, Kieran enrolled on an MA degree, where he specialised in film composition and creative music practices. During this time, Kieran discovered the practice of field recording, which explored together alongside composition, led him to conclude his MA degree with the release of his debut What We’ll Miss Most (2021).
Kieran's work has been broadcast on channels such as BBC Two, S4C and Amazon Prime, in addition to screenings at international festivals in Ireland, LA, Washington and Toronto. In August 2025, Kieran released his latest work, Heavens Full Of Static (2025), an album that explored the recent closures and loss of industry for Tata Steel in Port Talbot through a combination of field recordings, experimental composition and electronic textures. Kieran's interest in industrial soundscapes, absence and landscape also led him to direct the film Dyschronia (2026).
Kieran is a lecturer in BA & MA Film Composition at the University of Gloucestershire, where he is also completing his PhD in Sonic Hauntology while working on commissions across music, film and sound.
